An Excursion

Well, I figured I would at least send you some pictures of the excursion we took last Sunday, and then fill you in with some stories a little later.
:)

Down into the lighthouse's winding staircase

View from the top... ritzy town

cold but beautiful... as is most of Uruguay

The Famous Hand! (equivalent here to the statue of liberty or something)

sand dune nearby

family in church clothes in Maldonado (... we are trying to decide what to do since we just found out the there was an hour time change here... we arrived just as Mass was ending. Rather confusing, but exciting.)

cold again (this is Punte Del Este, by the way...the whole city is like 5 blocks wide and if yous stand in the middle you can see the ocean on either side of you.)

our family has an eager interest in birds that attack, as you can see... (if you look on the family blog, you should be able to see Christopher getting attacked;)

wistfully looking out into the blue oblivion...
*sigh* a child after my own heart...

Mom finally broke down and rented a car (..But we with the durable legs still walk places that are 5 blocks away mind you!)

Hola!

:):):) hey
Somewhere along the path of the steadily advancing cyber-communication in this depressing age of technology, one has to admit that there are some benefits to a blog. Even though I have always been distinctly opposed to internet-published diaries, if I call it a "travel journal," it is far easier to justify such a hypocritical gesture to myself. ;) For that is precisely what this here blog is... I am traveling in South America. And because I wanted to keep updated with you guys, here is my selfless act of the year: I started a blog :P Hopefully, I will be able to post pictures and stories for anyone that is interested in seeing what my life is going to be like for the next 3 and a half months. This is quite a drastic change, yet I am confident I am where God wants me right now.
thanx all!
